I’ve been wondering about something lately. There’s this idea going around that young members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially lesbians, shouldn’t play horror games. I’m curious about the reasoning behind this.
Is it because these games might be too intense or scary? Or is there some other concern I’m not aware of? Maybe it’s about representation in the genre?
If anyone has insights or personal experiences to share, I’d love to hear them. It seems like an odd recommendation, so I’m trying to understand where it’s coming from.
Never heard that advice before. Horror games are for anyone who enjoys a good scare. Sexuality doesn’t really factor into most of them. If you like being spooked, go for it. Just check the age ratings first.
That sounds like weird gatekeeping to me. Horror games are for anyone who can handle them. I’ve played tons over the years and never saw anything that would single out LGBTQ+ folks. Most focus on monsters, ghosts, and general creepiness. Maybe someone’s reading too much into it? Play what you enjoy, regardless of identity.
