I’ve noticed a lot of buzz around dystopian stories lately, especially with The Hunger Games getting attention again. It got me thinking about other big dystopian series from a few years back. Divergent and Maze Runner were huge hits, right up there with Hunger Games. But it seems like they’ve kind of faded away. I’m wondering why these franchises haven’t tried to make a comeback or release new content. Is it because the market is saturated? Did the creators feel like the stories were finished? Or maybe the fans have moved on to other things? I’d love to hear what others think about this. Do you think there’s still potential for new stories in these worlds, or should they be left as they are? It just seems odd that with all the interest in dystopian stuff right now, these big names aren’t jumping back in.
I think those series kinda peaked already. The movies were okay but didn’t quite live up to the hype. Maybe the creators are working on new stuff instead of rehashing old stories. It’s cool to see fresh dystopian ideas rather than just more of the same, you know?
Those series probably peaked at the right time and place. The dystopian craze was huge then, but tastes change. Hunger Games just had that special sauce to stick around longer.
I’d rather see fresh dystopian stories anyway. There’s so much potential for new ideas instead of dragging out old ones. Maybe the creators are working on cool new stuff we don’t know about yet.

Hunger Games just had better staying power.

Honestly, I think those series just ran their course. The movies were decent, but they didn’t quite capture the magic of the books like Hunger Games did. Plus, the endings of both Divergent and Maze Runner were pretty divisive. Fans weren’t super happy, so there’s not as much demand for more.
Sometimes it’s better to let a series end rather than trying to milk it dry. New dystopian stuff might do better starting fresh instead of reviving old franchises.
