I’ve been noticing a lot more people complaining about Dark Souls 3 recently, and it’s really confusing me. I always thought this game was basically loved by everyone in the community.
Sure, I remember some people didn’t like how straightforward the path was compared to other games in the series. Personally, I actually enjoyed that aspect since I tend to get confused with too many branching routes. My main issue is really just with some of the early boss fights, but the later encounters more than make up for it. I mean, everyone still talks about how amazing Gael is as a final boss.
Has something changed or am I just seeing different opinions now? It seems strange that a game which seemed universally praised is suddenly getting so much hate. What are people’s main problems with it these days?
I think it’s because people have had years to pick apart every detail of DS3. When games first drop, everyone’s hyped and caught up in the newness. But after beating it to death, the annoying stuff starts standing out more. Plus all these Elden Ring players are jumping in with completely different ideas about what Souls games should be like.
That’s just how popular games age. DS3 hit in 2016 - the hype’s long gone. Now with Elden Ring around, people spot DS3’s flaws easier. Still great, but doesn’t feel as special anymore.
