Why Dark Souls Remastered is the top choice among the series

After completing my journey through the remastered Dark Souls, following my experiences with its sequels, I have to say that no other game in this series compares to the impact of the first title. The way the world is interconnected is fascinating, and the atmosphere is far more chilling and mysterious than what I found in the later installments. The thrill of exploration and the level design truly set it apart.

I’m eager to hear the opinions of others: which game in the Dark Souls series do you think is the best, and what aspects make it shine for you?

For me, the third installment feels too similar to other action titles, losing the unique essence that made the original so remarkable.

The original just nails that sense of dread and mystery. Every area feels genuinely dangerous and unknown, while the sequels felt more predictable to me.

Dark Souls 3 has the best bosses though, especially the DLC fights like Gael and Midir.

I totally agree about the world design. The way everything is connected really adds to the atmosphere and exploration. That moment when you find shortcuts back to familiar areas makes it feel so rewarding. The sequels just don’t have that same magic. It’s like the original was a masterpiece in how it unfolds everything.

Dark Souls 2 gets a lot of hate but I actually loved the variety in environments and how different it felt from the first game.
