Which style of Resident Evil do you enjoy more - horror-focused or action-heavy?

I’m wondering what type of RE experience people like best around here. Personally, I think RE7 is still the peak of the series.

Sure, Village had tons of action sequences and the remake trilogy is incredibly well-made, but something about 7 just worked perfectly. It brought back that genuine scary atmosphere with tight spaces that made you feel trapped.

What I appreciated most was how straightforward it was. No fancy mechanics or complicated systems. Just basic survival elements, limited light sources, a terrifying location, and some seriously disturbed enemies trying to hunt you down.

RE4’s still my favorite, but I totally get why people love the horror approach. Those tight hallways in the older games hit way different than running around with a machine gun.

Honestly, I’m torn between both. Classic horror like RE7 gets my heart pounding, but sometimes I just wanna grab a shotgun and blast through zombies like in RE4.

Village was solid but nothing beats that first Jack encounter in RE7

Action RE games are fun but they’re missing something crucial. Once you’re loaded with ammo and weapons, the fear’s gone. Horror RE makes every bullet matter - opening a door becomes a real gamble. RE7 got it right. You’re always on edge wondering what’s waiting around the corner.

I see your point about RE7’s atmosphere, but the RE2 remake also created that perfect mix of tension and action. Such a fun experience!
