Which indie horror titles would you recommend from small studios?

I’m really curious about horror games made by independent developers that have left a lasting impression on people. I’ve been getting into the indie horror scene lately and I’m amazed by how creative these smaller teams can be compared to big studios. Some of the most terrifying and memorable gaming experiences I’ve had came from indie titles rather than AAA releases. The atmosphere and unique gameplay mechanics that indie devs come up with really stand out. I’d love to hear about any indie horror games that really stuck with you after playing them. What made them special or memorable? Were there any specific moments or features that made them particularly effective at creating scares or tension?

Phasmophobia’s a solid pick. It’s super intense, especially when you’re playing with friends. The ghost hunting mechanics are simple but they hit the mark.

Visage is absolutely brutal if you want pure psychological terror.

SOMA really got to me. The whole existential horror thing is just unsettling and stayed with me long after playing.

Layers of Fear really got under my skin with its shifting house mechanics

Outlast really messed me up. Just running through that asylum with only a camera felt like a total nightmare. Not being able to fight back makes the fear so much more intense. The Forest is also worth mentioning. It starts off as a regular survival game, but things get super eerie once you venture into those caves.
