Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about the scariest games I’ve played over the years. I’m curious to hear what others think are the best horror games ever made. What are your top choices?
For me, it’s hard to narrow it down, but I’d say my list includes:
A classic PS2 psychological horror game set in a foggy town
The GameCube remake of a zombie-filled mansion adventure
That creepy first-person game where you explore a castle with no weapons
A spooky Wii title with ghost-hunting gameplay
A handheld horror game released in 2008 that takes place on a ship
What about you? Which horror games have left the biggest impression on you? Let’s share our favorites and maybe discover some new ones to try!
Alien: Isolation gets my vote for top horror game. The AI of the alien is so unpredictable, it keeps you on edge the whole time. Plus the atmosphere is spot-on, feels just like the movies. Anyone else spend way too much time hiding in lockers?
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is still unbeatable for me. The way it builds tension without combat is brilliant. What’s your take on more recent horror games?
Silent Hill 2 is a classic for sure. That game messed me up good. But for me, nothing beats the original Fatal Frame. Something about those ghosts coming at you through that old camera lens just gets under my skin. And the sound design? Instant goosebumps every time. Still can’t play it with the lights off after all these years.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is such a mind-bender. No weapons, just pure terror. Outlast is another one that got me good. Those night vision sequences are brutal. What do you all think of the new Resident Evil remakes? They’re bringing back the classic scares pretty well.
