Which horror games deserve way more recognition than they currently get?

I’ve been reflecting on horror games that aren’t given enough credit by players. There are many fantastic titles that remain unnoticed while others dominate discussions.

For instance, I believe The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes and Madison are two excellent examples that often get overlooked. House of Ashes has an amazing atmosphere and its monsters are truly frightening, yet few people talk about it. Madison is another title that scared me more than many big-name games, but it seems like it hasn’t reached the masses.

What horror games do you think are seriously underrated? I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems that I might have missed. Extra points if they kept you up at night!

Visage gets slept on but it’s absolutely terrifying

Lost in Vivo is criminally underrated, that game messed me up

Call of Cthulhu (2018) is criminally underrated. It nails the slow-burn psychological horror vibe. The investigation elements really enhance the creepy atmosphere. Also, White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is genuinely terrifying, yet it rarely comes up in horror game discussions.

Detention doesn’t get nearly enough love. That game had me genuinely disturbed for days after playing it.

SOMA really doesn’t get talked about enough considering how good it is at existential dread
