I’ve been following news about the upcoming Split Fiction movie and it sounds like things are moving pretty fast. From what I read, Jon M. Chu is set to direct this video game adaptation with Sydney Sweeney as one of the main actresses. The writing team includes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese who worked on the Deadpool movies.
Apparently multiple studios are bidding for distribution rights and the numbers are getting really high. Sony and Amazon MGM seem to be the main contenders, with Amazon looking like they might win. Does anyone know more details about when this deal might actually close? I heard it could happen within the next few days but wanted to see if others have more info.
Sydney Sweeney in a video game adaptation? That’s pretty cool. Haven’t heard much about it yet, but Jon M. Chu’s stuff is usually good. Just hope they don’t rush it because studios are throwing cash at everything right now.
This is moving insanely fast. Split Fiction launched like three weeks ago and studios are already throwing money at the movie rights. I mean, I get wanting to grab hot properties, but come on - most people haven’t even beaten it yet. That said, I’m genuinely curious how they’ll handle the co-op stuff in a movie format.
Wait, there’s a Split Fiction movie? That’s crazy. I just played the game and didn’t think it’d get adapted this fast. Video game movies are usually trash but the Deadpool writers might pull it off. Amazon’s buying everything these days so they’ll probably grab it.
