When did the biggest historical empires reach their maximum size

I’m really curious about when the most massive empires throughout history actually hit their peak territorial control. Like I know there were some huge ones but I’m not sure exactly when they were at their biggest.

I’m talking about empires like the Mongol Empire, British Empire, Roman Empire, and others that controlled massive amounts of land. Did they all peak at different times? Some of them must have lasted way longer than others too.

I’ve been reading about this stuff and it’s pretty fascinating how some empires grew super fast and then collapsed, while others took centuries to build up. I’m wondering if there’s a pattern or if each one was totally different.

Anyone know the specific time periods when these giant empires were at their absolute largest? Would love to learn more about this topic.

It’s wild how each empire reached its peak at different moments. The Mongols maxed out in 1279, while the British Empire was at its height in the 1920s, and Rome peaked under Trajan around 117 AD. It’s interesting to see how their timelines varied.

The Mongol Empire was massive - 16% of the world’s land at its peak. That’s absolutely wild. What gets me is how fast some empires grew compared to others. The Mongols conquered most of Asia in just a few decades, while the British took centuries building theirs through colonization and naval power.

The Ottoman Empire was huge as well, peaking in the 1680s before getting pushed back from Vienna. It’s crazy how geography shaped the expansion of these empires.

Spanish Empire hit its peak around 1790 as well - they controlled massive chunks of the Americas and the Philippines at the same time.
