What's the point of narrative gaming content when the hosts seem distracted?

I keep running into comments where people get frustrated with certain content creators not paying full attention to story-driven games during their streams or videos. Sure, there’s some truth to it, but I think folks are missing the bigger picture here.

These creators are entertainers first and their whole thing is keeping the audience entertained through humor and banter. That’s literally what their channel is built around. When they’re reacting to gameplay, they’re not trying to create some deep analysis or walkthrough experience. They’re just having fun and making content that fits their brand.

There are tons of other creators out there who do the serious, focused playthrough style if that’s what you’re looking for. I actually like watching their more casual approach to these games. Everyone’s got different preferences though, so I get why some viewers want something else. Just thought I’d throw in my two cents on this whole debate.

It really depends on the game, right? If it’s one with a deep story, then yeah, focus is key. But for lighter games, it can be fun just to goof around. I’ve stumbled on some awesome titles while watching streamers joke and have a good time. Still, it can get frustrating when they pick a narrative game and skip the important parts. Feels like a waste of time for everyone.

Different streamers for different moods honestly. Sometimes I want the chatty distracted vibe too.

Some games work great as background noise, others need your full focus. Just pick the right creator for what you’re after.

Depends what mood I’m in. Some days I want to see every cutscene and dialogue option, other days I just want to chill and watch someone mess around.

Chat losing their minds over missed story beats is half the entertainment tbh

I totally get that. There’s something fun about the chaos when streamers miss key moments. It’s wild how the chat reacts and it totally changes the vibe of the game. Makes for some unforgettable streams.

Distracted streams are honestly pretty entertaining. I’ve watched streamers completely miss plot points while chat goes absolutely insane trying to explain what just happened. Sometimes that’s way more fun than a normal playthrough. Still hurts though when they steamroll through a game I love and miss all the good parts.
