Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about racing simulators lately. I’m curious about the differences between the ones used by big-time racing teams and the stuff we can buy.
Does anyone know how the pro-level simulators compare to games like iRacing or rFactor 2? I’m wondering if they’re way more advanced or just a bit better.
Also, I’m really interested in who makes these pro simulators. Do the teams build them themselves, or do they hire outside companies? It’d be cool to know if places like Mercedes or Ferrari have their own sim departments.
If anyone has insider knowledge or has heard anything about this, I’d love to learn more. Thanks!
Yeah, pro sims are pretty next-level. I’ve heard they use actual F1 car data and have these crazy motion rigs. Consumer stuff is getting better though. iRacing’s physics are pretty solid now, even if it’s not quite pro-level. Still tons of fun to race online with friends.
Pro sims are on another level. Way more detailed physics, custom tracks, and real car data. Teams usually work with specialized companies to build them. Consumer sims are getting better, but can’t match the real deal yet.
Tried a friend’s high-end sim setup once. Blew my mind how realistic it felt compared to regular games. Still, iRacing and rFactor 2 are pretty impressive for what we can get at home. They’ve come a long way in recent years.
Pro sims are wild. They’ve got crazy motion rigs that give you g-forces and all sorts of fancy stuff. I’ve heard they even simulate things like tire temperatures and wear in real-time. The graphics are insane too, way beyond what we get at home.
But honestly, consumer sims are getting pretty damn good these days. They might not be perfect, but for most of us they’re more than enough to scratch that racing itch.
