What PS4/PS5 games kept you completely hooked and never wanting to stop playing?

I’ve been going through my game library recently and noticed something frustrating. Most of the time I’m just grinding through games waiting to see how they end instead of actually enjoying the experience. It wasn’t always like this though. Back in the PS2 era I remember playing games like Devil May Cry and Ratchet & Clank where I genuinely didn’t want to put the controller down because they were so much fun.

I’m hunting for PS4 and PS5 titles that capture that same magic. Games where you get lost in the world or the gameplay is so satisfying that you forget about reaching the credits. I want something that hooks me because it’s genuinely entertaining, not because I’m forcing myself to finish it.

Just so you know, I still need to check out Red Dead Redemption 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. Also I’m not really into super difficult games like Dark Souls or Sekiro. I don’t mind some difficulty but I prefer fun over frustration.

What games made you lose track of time and wish they would never end?

Currently working through The Last of Us Part II on PS Plus and while it’s well made, I still catch myself checking how much is left rather than getting absorbed in it.

Witcher 3 completely consumed me for months. The side quests actually felt meaningful and I kept discovering new stuff everywhere I went.

Spider-Man games did this for me. Swinging around never gets old.

Horizon Zero Dawn nailed this perfectly. Hunting robot dinosaurs with a bow just clicked for me. The world’s gorgeous and exploring never felt like a chore - always rewarding. Combat has this great rhythm where you’re scanning weak points and planning your next move. I’d lose hours without realizing it.
