What are your thoughts on the franchise switching to first-person horror gameplay following RE6?

Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking about how the Resident Evil series made that big shift after the sixth game. You know how RE6 was more action-packed and then they completely changed direction? I’m curious about what the community thinks about this major gameplay change.

Personally, I found it pretty jarring at first. Going from third-person action to that intense first-person perspective really caught me off guard. The atmosphere became so much more claustrophobic and scary compared to the previous entries.

Did anyone else feel like this was a good move for the franchise? Or do you think they should have stuck with the formula they had before? I’m really interested to hear different perspectives on this because it seems like such a divisive topic among fans.

First-person was a smart move but I still miss the old camera angles sometimes.

RE7 really hit the mark after the chaos of 6. The first-person perspective nailed the creepy, isolated vibe. The Baker house was genuinely unsettling - I haven’t felt that level of fear from an RE game in ages. It took a little time to adjust, but it’s great to see the series return to its horror roots.

Going first-person made it scary again. Way more immersive than just blasting everything in sight.

Great call switching to first-person. RE6 went way too heavy on action - this change brought back that survival horror vibe the series was missing.

I think the change was awesome, but I do miss seeing my character sometimes. The third-person view had this cool cinematic vibe that the first-person just doesn’t capture the same way.
