I grew up in a small Polish town near Kraków. Recently, I went back to check on my late father’s house. What I found was shocking. Every single door in the entire village had been removed. Houses were wide open to the elements. People had put up curtains or nets instead.
Apparently, this was due to a local legend about a creature called Ślepiec that knocks on doors at night. If you open, terrible things happen. So the villagers took drastic action.
As I investigated further, I uncovered dark secrets about my father’s past and his connection to this entity. I even encountered Ślepiec myself one night.
In the end, I helped resolve the situation, but was left with more questions than answers about my childhood home and family history. The experience made me reflect on the true meaning of home and belonging.
