Hey everyone, I just noticed something incredible happening right now. The new Hollow Knight sequel has absolutely exploded on Steam and the numbers are mind blowing. In just the first few hours after release, the game managed to pull in more than 500,000 people playing at the same time. What makes this even more crazy is that this puts it at number 18 on Steam’s all-time list of highest concurrent players ever recorded. I’ve been following gaming stats for years and rarely see indie games reach these kinds of numbers so quickly. The hype around this title was obviously huge but nobody expected it to perform this well right out of the gate. Has anyone else been watching these player counts climb? It’s fascinating to see how a sequel can generate this much immediate interest from the gaming community.
Yeah, it just dropped and the player count is wild. Totally unexpected for an indie sequel!
Those numbers are insane for any game honestly. I remember checking Steam charts when the first one was popular and it never hit anything close to this. The sequel hype was real but half a million concurrent is just bonkers.
Yeah, makes sense considering how long fans waited. Hollow Knight built this crazy dedicated fanbase that was desperate for more content. Mix that hunger with how amazing the first game was, and of course the numbers are huge. Indie games are mainstream now too - way different from five years ago.
Team Cherry’s probably losing their minds looking at those Steam charts right now
