Hey everyone,
I’m a big fan of games where you have to build and manage a society in a dystopian or post-apocalyptic setting. You know, the ones where you’re trying to keep your people alive and thriving in tough conditions.
I’ve tried The Survivalists, but it didn’t really grab me. Now I’m looking for something new to scratch that itch. Any suggestions for games that fit this description? I’m especially interested in ones with deep survival mechanics and interesting society-building elements.
What are your favorite dystopian games in this genre? And what makes them stand out to you? I’d love to hear about your experiences and recommendations!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Frostpunk is awesome for this. Tough decisions, harsh environment, and you really feel the pressure of keeping your city alive. The moral choices add a cool layer too.
Banished is pretty solid if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s not post-apocalyptic, but it’s all about survival and building a society from scratch. The challenge comes from managing resources and keeping your people alive through harsh winters. It’s brutal at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really satisfying to watch your little village grow into a thriving town.
Surviving Mars is pretty cool for this.
You build a colony on the red planet, dealing with harsh conditions and limited resources.
Lots of strategy involved in keeping your colonists alive and happy.
Rimworld’s my go-to for post-apocalyptic colony building. You start with a few survivors and have to keep them alive on a hostile planet. The random events and AI storyteller keep things interesting every playthrough.
