Seeking dystopian-themed single-player games

Hey everyone! I’m a big fan of dystopian stories and I’m dying to find a game that captures that vibe. You know, like those classic books with dark futures and oppressive societies. I’ve tried a few games, but none of them really nailed the dystopian feel I’m after.

Does anyone have some cool suggestions for single-player games set in dystopian worlds? I’d love something that makes me feel like I’m actually living in one of those grim futures.

Oh, and if possible, I’d prefer games that aren’t first-person. They tend to make me a bit queasy. But don’t let that stop you from sharing any awesome titles you know!

I’m really excited to see what you guys come up with. Thanks in advance for your help!

Gotta throw my hat in for Disco Elysium. It’s not your typical dystopia, but man, it nails that feeling of a world gone to shit.

You play as this messed-up detective in a city that’s falling apart. The writing is top-notch, and every choice feels like it matters.

It’s not first-person either, so you should be good on the motion sickness front. Trust me, this game will stick with you long after you finish it.

Transistor might be up your alley. Cool sci-fi world, oppressive vibes, and not first-person. The story’s pretty twisty too.

Bioshock’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. The underwater city of Rapture is peak dystopia. Creepy atmosphere, messed up society, and a story that keeps you guessing. It’s first-person, but the gameplay’s slower-paced so it might not make you as queasy. Plus the visuals are so unique, it’d be a shame to miss out.

Inside is a great dystopian game. Really creepy atmosphere and it’s not first-person. The world feels super oppressive and you’re this little kid trying to survive. Definitely gives off those dark future vibes you’re looking for.

Frostpunk is pretty intense. You run a city in a frozen wasteland. Tough choices, grim atmosphere. Really nails that dystopian vibe.
