Hey everyone! I’m worried about my younger cousin. She’s into girls and recently started getting interested in horror games. I don’t think it’s a good idea for her to play them. She’s pretty sensitive and I’m afraid they might give her nightmares or make her anxious. Anyone else have experience with this? How can I gently steer her towards other game genres without making her feel like I’m being overprotective? Thanks for any advice!
I don’t think horror games are inherently bad for anyone, regardless of age or orientation. It’s more about personal preference and tolerance. Maybe suggest some milder horror games to start with and see how she handles them? Could be a fun bonding experience too.
Horror games can be intense for anyone, not just young sapphic folks. Maybe suggest some story-driven games with light horror elements instead? There are tons of great ones that aren’t too scary but still have that spooky vibe.
It’s cool she’s into horror games. Lots of people enjoy them.
Maybe try co-op horror games together? Could be fun and less scary that way.
Or find some with good LGBTQ+ representation if that interests her.
Some horror games aren’t too scary. Lots have more mystery or story.
Maybe check out games like Oxenfree or What Remains of Edith Finch?
They’re spooky but not nightmare fuel.
Horror games aren’t just about scares. Lots have great stories and atmospheres too. Maybe suggest some with awesome female characters or LGBTQ+ themes? Could be a cool way for her to explore those interests.
If she’s new to horror, starting with milder stuff like survival games with creepy vibes might ease her in. Let her decide what she’s comfortable with though.
