Revisited Oblivion's new version after ages... still tops everything else

Guys, I just gave the updated Oblivion a shot after like forever. It’s been 20 years since I last played it. The new graphics are cool and all, but what really got me is how it still feels better than any other game like it I’ve played since.

It’s not just me being all nostalgic, I swear. The way you build your character actually matters. You can’t just be awesome at everything. You gotta pick what you’re good at, and it makes your choices feel important.

In Skyrim, you end up being this all-powerful hero who’s great at everything. It’s like you’re destined to be special from the get-go. That always bugged me.

But in Oblivion? You start off as just some random prisoner. You can become a big shot hero if you want, or be a bad guy, or just hang in the background. There’s no big prophecy saying you have to be special. It’s all on you to make your character who they are.

Seriously, even with the fancy new look, Oblivion just nails it better than the rest.

Yeah, Oblivion’s character system is pretty sweet. I loved how you could actually mess up your build if you weren’t careful. Made leveling feel more rewarding. The world was so much fun to explore too. Might have to reinstall it now!

Totally agree. Oblivion’s character system is way more immersive. You actually feel like you’re shaping a unique person, not just ticking off skill boxes. The freedom to be whoever you want is what makes it special.

Man, Oblivion really was something special. I remember sinking so many hours into that game back in the day. The way you could specialize and really feel your character grow was awesome. It’s cool that even with the updated graphics, the core gameplay still holds up. Makes me want to dive back in and start a new character!
