Playing the new urban warfare map made me realize this game feels more like classic Call of Duty than Battlefield

I just finished several rounds on that big city map and I have mixed feelings about the whole experience. Part of me is really excited because I finally found a multiplayer shooter that actually feels fun to play again. It’s been years since I had this much enjoyment in an online FPS.

But here’s the thing that’s bugging me - it doesn’t really feel like I’m playing Battlefield at all. The only time I remember what game I’m actually in is when I turn off all the UI elements or when I see some wall getting blown up or hear fighter planes flying overhead on the bigger maps.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to bash the game for feeling like COD. Actually it reminds me of the older Call of Duty games that I used to love playing. I guess that could be seen as either good or bad depending on what you were expecting.

I’m definitely having a blast with the fast paced action and the crazy moments that happen during matches. It brings me back to when FPS games were actually entertaining. The game is way better than the previous one they released, but it just doesn’t give me that authentic Battlefield vibe I was hoping for.

That urban warfare map definitely hits those MW2 vibes. I’m cool with it though - the old Battlefield formula wasn’t working anymore anyway.

Totally get that. The newer Battlefield games tried too hard to stand out, losing the fun factor along the way. If borrowing from classic COD means better gunplay and speed, I’m on board with it. Sometimes a series just needs to revisit what made it great in the first place.

At least it’s fun again instead of being stuck with whatever that last disaster was
