I recently acquired a boxed edition of Life Is Strange 2, and I noticed something troubling about its downloadable content. It comes with the “Captain Spirit” bonus, which is acceptable. However, the final episode, titled “Episode 5: Wolves,” is available only via a single-use code that can only be activated on one account. To make matters worse, this code also has a time limit for activation. This seems quite unreasonable because when purchasing a physical game, it should be possible to resell it afterward. If the last episode is locked to an expired or already claimed code, the next buyer will receive an incomplete game. This is not just a minor bonus; it’s the concluding part of the main storyline. How can this be legitimate for retail products? Shouldn’t all the main content be included in physical copies without these limitations?
Yeah, it feels like they’re putting limits on a product you already bought. It’s not cool.
Totally feel you on that. Complete editions are the way to go to avoid these annoying codes.
Yeah, I get it. Super annoying when you buy what you think is the complete game only to find chunks locked behind codes. I’d definitely wait for the complete editions instead.
That’s really annoying, especially for a story-driven game like Life is Strange. Makes the physical copy pretty much worthless for resale.
I totally get that. It’s frustrating to buy a physical game and find out the last episode is tied to some expiring code. It definitely makes me lean more towards digital purchases. You want the full experience without these annoying restrictions.
I get that frustration. It’s such a letdown to think you’ve bought the full game only to have a major part locked behind an expiring code. I find myself leaning towards complete editions now since you end up with the full experience without these annoying limitations.
