Online Board Gaming Platforms: Comparing BGA, TTS, and Steam

Hey everyone! I’m trying to figure out which online platform is best for playing board games. I’ve heard about Board Game Arena, Tabletop Simulator, and Steam, but I’m not sure which one to choose. What do you all think about these options?

I’m curious about:

  • Which one you like the most and why
  • Which one you don’t enjoy and the reasons behind it
  • What would be a good choice for someone new to digital board gaming

I’m hoping to get some insights from experienced players. It would be great to hear about your personal experiences with these platforms. Have you found one to be more user-friendly or have a better selection of games? Any tips for a beginner like me would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance for your input. I’m looking forward to joining the online board gaming community!

I’ve been using BGA lately and it’s pretty solid. The interface is easy to get the hang of and there’s a good variety of games. TTS is cool too if you want more options, but it can be a bit overwhelming at first.

TTS is awesome if you want variety. Huge mod library lets you play almost anything. Takes some getting used to though. Might be tricky for total newbies.

Steam’s got some good digital versions of popular board games. They’re polished and usually have decent tutorials. Not as many options as BGA or TTS, but the ones they have are well-made. Pretty user-friendly too if you’re already familiar with Steam.

I’ve tried all three and honestly, each has its pros and cons. BGA is great for quick games and a wide selection. TTS gives you crazy flexibility but can be fiddly. Steam’s got some solid digital adaptations.

For a newbie, I’d probably lean towards BGA. It’s straightforward and you can dive right in without much hassle. Plus, the built-in rules and tutorials are super helpful when you’re just starting out.

BGA’s my go-to. Easy to learn, tons of games, and you can play for free. Great for beginners who want to jump right in without much setup.
