Need ideas for hidden surprises in my spooky lighthouse game

Hey everyone! I’m making a scary game set in a lighthouse. There’s a radio that players can use to receive calls and tune into various stations. The radio operates between frequencies 1.0 and 999.9.

I’m a big fan of The Dark Pictures Anthology, especially Man of Medan, and I’m looking to incorporate secrets inspired by that series into my game. I’m interested in two types of surprises:

  1. Basic surprises: These consist of a frequency (like 123.4), a station name (like Port Radio), and 1-4 short phrases that describe the content.

  2. Secret surprises: These are unlocked only when the player performs a specific sequence of actions, like interacting with certain objects in the game.

If you’ve played Static Dread or have any creative suggestions, please share your ideas. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Static Dread was awesome! For basic surprises, try 666.6 - Ghostly Whispers. Creepy voices and eerie sounds.

For a secret, maybe tuning to 13.13 after finding a hidden logbook unlocks a phantom lighthouse keeper’s tale.

Sounds spooky! What about 333.3 - Siren’s Call?

Could play muffled singing that gets clearer as players solve puzzles.

For a secret, maybe finding an old locket unlocks a tragic love story on a hidden frequency.

Love the lighthouse idea! For a basic surprise, how about 87.9 - Shipwreck Stories? Could be tales of doomed vessels that never made it to shore.

As for secrets, what if tuning to specific frequencies in a certain order unlocks a hidden message? Like entering a code. Could tie into the lighthouse’s history or some dark mystery. Just keep it solvable without being too obvious.

Cool idea for a game! Static interference could be a nice creepy touch on certain frequencies. Maybe have some frequencies play old recordings or messages that hint at the lighthouse’s dark past. Just don’t make it too frustrating to find the good stuff.

That lighthouse setting sounds super creepy! For a basic surprise, maybe try 42.0 - Foghorn Blues. Play some haunting sea shanties or eerie foghorn sounds.

Radio puzzles are always fun in horror games. Just make sure the clues are clear enough so players don’t get stuck.
