Many new players miss out on understanding Warframe's complete narrative

The game has so much lore beyond the starting quest

Warframe’s storyline goes way deeper than just the tutorial mission. There’s the whole war between two major factions, character development arcs, recent major story events, and special limited-time stories that add more depth to the game world.

The Corporate-Clone Army War

After players finish the opening, both major enemy factions basically ruled everything and wanted to grow bigger. Players had to step in to keep things balanced. These factions did business together sometimes, but fights kept breaking out.

First big conflict happened when the military faction sent huge ships to blow up the corporate faction’s supply depots because prices got too high. Players had to stop these ships. Later we found out the military guys were paying the corporate guys to hide their bases from us, so we had to rescue some corporate spies who knew where the secret bases were located.

The biggest fight happened on the red planet where both sides went at it directly. Even though players tried to help, the military faction won. Just when things seemed calm, someone stirred up trouble again and the military leader officially declared war during a major story quest.

The Mad Scientist’s Journey

This corporate scientist character is super important to the whole story. After one big conflict, he got enough resources to start this crazy robot project. But his corporate rival got scared he’d become too powerful, so he asked players to wreck the scientist’s lab. We ended up destroying his project and saving this tortured warframe.

Later the scientist started doing weird experiments with space zombies and made mutant versions of enemies. He even got infected himself and tried to spread it everywhere. Players had to stop him from taking over everything.

But then in another event, he asked players for help curing his infection. We had to break into another scientist’s lab to find medicine. He got cured and helped us during a huge story revelation. This made the main villain really angry, so he sent assassins after the scientist. Players had to protect him.

The Recent Big War

The main storyline involves these ancient enemy robots invading. Unfortunately two major events that were supposed to show this invasion aren’t playable anymore. In the first event, players used both regular gameplay and ship combat to fight the invasion. In the second event, we used our human forms and giant mechs.

The final quest let us play as different characters including resistance fighters and finally introduced an alternate version of our character. I really think the developers should bring back those limited events as permanent story missions. They could redesign them so different squads handle different parts of the mission.

There were also these special radio drama style stories about a prison escapee, cult followers, and a serial killer who turned people into glass. These added a lot of flavor to the game world.

The problem is new players jump into major story moments without understanding the background. Character relationships and plot developments don’t make sense when experienced out of order. The game needs better story flow instead of just putting everything in optional lore sections.

Yeah the lore delivery is pretty messy. I jumped into some quests and had no clue who half these characters were supposed to be.

I always recommend checking out the old event cutscenes on YouTube before diving into the main quests. The game throws you into huge story moments without any context, which can make it hard to connect with characters. That scientist who pops up later? You’re expected to already have a backstory with him, but new players just feel lost. They seriously should find a way to weave those limited-time events into the main storyline.

Those missing Scarlet Spear and Orphix Venom events really hurt the story flow for newer players.

You’re absolutely right - Warframe’s confusing as hell for new players. Jumping into this massive story without any context? Good luck figuring out what’s happening. I’ve been playing for years and still hit up wikis to understand the lore. Those limited-time events really screwed over the narrative. Missing key story moments makes it nearly impossible for newcomers to get invested in the world.

Codex entries do help, but honestly, most players just skip over those walls of text.

The timeline’s a complete mess when you’re trying to figure out what actually happened. I had to watch tons of lore videos just to get why characters do what they do.
