Looking for new economic and management simulation games. Any suggestions based on my favorites?

Hey everyone! I’m a big fan of economic and management sims. I’ve played a bunch of games like the MGT series, Software Inc, SimCity 4, and Cities: Skylines. I also enjoy Paradox games like EU4 and HOI4.

I’m really into games where you can:

  • Run a country
  • Build cities
  • Manage a company

Some other games I’ve tried:

  • Game Dev Tycoon
  • Prison Architect
  • Big Ambitions
  • Capitalism 2
  • Startup Company
  • Dealer’s Life 2
  • TheoTown
  • Suzerain

I’m open to both chill and hardcore games. Old school games from 2000-2010 are cool too.

What other games would you recommend? I’m looking for something with depth and maybe some competition. Bonus points if it lets me build a brand or focus on specific products.

Thanks for any ideas!

Anno 1800 might be right up your alley. It’s got that sweet spot of city-building, economics, and some light combat. You can really dive into product chains and trade routes. The Victorian era setting is pretty cool too.

Two Point Hospital is pretty fun if you like management sims. It’s like Theme Hospital but modern. You build and run hospitals, deal with weird diseases, and try to keep patients happy. Good mix of strategy and humor.

Ever tried Tropico? It’s a blast. You run a Caribbean island as El Presidente, balancing economics, politics, and keeping your people happy. There’s a good mix of city-building and national management.

If you’re into space, Surviving Mars is pretty cool too. You build and manage a colony on Mars, dealing with all the challenges that come with it. It’s got that nice blend of resource management and expansion you might enjoy.

Check out Factorio if you haven’t already.

It’s all about building and managing a massive factory on an alien planet.

Tons of depth in the production chains and logistics.

Frostpunk is pretty intense if you want a challenge. You manage a city in a frozen wasteland. Tough decisions and resource management make it really engaging.
