Looking for medieval fantasy games with dark atmosphere?

Hey everyone! I’m searching for some good medieval fantasy games that have a really dark and gritty feel to them. I really want something where I can wander through dark forests during nighttime and maybe discover hidden underground areas like dungeons or caverns. The atmosphere is super important to me - I want that spooky, mysterious vibe you get from classic dark fantasy settings.

I’m gaming on PlayStation 5 so it needs to be compatible with that console. I’ve been craving this type of experience for a while now but haven’t found the right game yet. What would you guys suggest? Any titles that really capture that eerie medieval atmosphere with good exploration elements?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 sounds perfect for you. The nights get genuinely scary when you’re out exploring and your lantern starts dying.

Check out Dark Souls III. It nails that dark medieval vibe with tons of exploring to do.

The Witcher 3’s exactly what you want. The nighttime forests are genuinely creepy, and caves/crypts feel oppressive as hell. Bloodborne’s great too if you’re cool with Victorian gothic instead of straight medieval. Both nail that dark exploration vibe you’re after.
