Looking for co-op games like It Takes Two for casual gaming

Hey everyone! My partner and I just completed It Takes Two and absolutely loved it. I’m usually the gamer in our relationship, but my partner enjoys playing together or watching me play. They have ADHD and prefer games with simple controls - anything requiring complex button combinations becomes overwhelming.

What we’re searching for:

  • Games similar to It Takes Two on PC (Steam preferred)
  • Level-based structure where we can play a section and easily return later
  • Simple control schemes and mechanics
  • Story that’s easy to follow even with breaks

Our gaming history: We’ve tried It Takes Two and the We Were Here series. Both were enjoyable, but It Takes Two was the clear winner due to its accessibility.

Bonus points for: Building and decoration elements, as my partner really enjoys creative gameplay aspects. The game doesn’t need to be strictly co-op - single player with shared control works too.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Portal 2’s co-op campaign is perfect for you. The puzzles are clever without being frustrating, and there’s no rush. Plus the robot characters are adorable. If you want something more chill, try Unravel Two - it’s got It Takes Two’s cooperative feel but way more relaxed. Moving Out’s great too if you’re cool with some chaotic furniture-moving madness.

A Way Out could be perfect for you guys. Same split-screen co-op feel and the controls don’t get complicated.

Stardew Valley co-op could be perfect - it’s got the building you want and it’s super chill.
