I’m really interested in finding or seeing a game that centers around playing as a healing mage character. Think of them like battlefield medics but with magic powers. The whole concept of being a support character who focuses on restoration spells and holy magic seems like it could make for an amazing storyline.
I know games like Final Fantasy XIV let you pick healer classes, but that’s multiplayer and not what I’m after. I want something more like how Final Fantasy X told Yuna’s story as a summoner, but instead focusing on what it means to be a magical healer.
The idea would be having a protagonist who uses mostly light-based magic and healing spells, maybe fighting against dark creatures or undead enemies that are vulnerable to sacred magic. It could explore themes of sacrifice and helping others, kind of like a fantasy version of a medic’s journey. Has anyone seen games like this or think it would work as a concept?
Tyranny’s probably your best bet. You can build a pure healer/support mage and the whole game’s about moral choices, so you can really play someone trying to help people in a brutal world. Plus your magic actually matters to the story - it’s not just mechanics.
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous sounds perfect for you. Oracle or Cleric builds let you focus purely on healing and channeling positive energy. The crusade story’s all about using holy magic against demons and undead, plus there’s an Angel mythic path. It’s basically the ultimate battlefield medic with divine powers game.
