[KCD2] Some quest choices have surprisingly dark consequences

I was playing through the Suchdol fortress mission where your character is really hungry. During this part, there was a dialogue option that mentioned using Mutt as food. I picked it because I figured the game was just joking around and nothing would really happen to the dog. But wow, I was totally wrong. The game actually went through with it and Mutt got cooked into a meal. They even gave it a dark humor name about man’s best friend. Both characters end up eating it together. I kept playing thinking maybe Mutt would come back later in the story, but nope. The choice is permanent and the dog stays gone for the rest of the game. Has anyone else accidentally made this choice?

I made that same mistake on my first playthrough. The way they wrote that dialogue made it seem like Henry was just being dramatic about how hungry he was. Really caught me off guard when the game actually followed through. KCD2 has some brutal moments like that where choices you think are just flavor text end up having real weight.

Yeah that choice hits different when you realize it’s permanent. KCD2 doesn’t mess around with consequences.

Damn that’s brutal. I always save before making any big dialogue choices in these kinds of RPGs now because of stuff like this.

That’s rough. I wasn’t sure how serious that option was either. It’s wild how the game handles those decisions. Makes you think twice about what you pick.
