Hey fellow gamers! I’ve been playing Dead by Daylight for a while now, and I’m starting to wonder if it really fits the horror genre. Sure, it’s got spooky vibes and jump scares, but does that make it a true horror game?
I feel like after a few matches, the fear factor kinda wears off. You start focusing more on strategy and mechanics rather than being scared. Plus, the repetitive nature of matches makes it feel more like a competitive multiplayer game than a horror experience.
What do you guys think? Does DbD deserve the horror game label, or is it more of a thriller with horror elements? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this. Maybe I’m missing something that makes it truly terrifying for others.
Let’s discuss! What makes a game genuinely horror in your opinion, and does Dead by Daylight tick those boxes for you?
It’s more of a thrill ride than pure horror. The first few games can be scary, but once you learn the mechanics, it becomes more about outplaying the other side. Still gets my heart racing sometimes though!
I’d say DbD is more of a tense multiplayer game with horror themes. The scary bits fade after a while, but the atmosphere stays creepy. It’s fun, but not nightmare fuel like some single-player horror games.
I’ve put in a ton of hours on DbD, and yeah, the fear factor definitely fades. It’s more about the thrill of the chase and mind games with other players now.
Still, those first few matches were pretty intense. I remember my heart racing when I heard the killer’s heartbeat nearby. Good times.
These days it feels more like a twisted game of hide and seek than true horror. Fun as hell, but not exactly nightmare fuel.
I get what you mean about DbD. It’s got horror vibes, but the fear factor drops off pretty quick. I’d say it’s more of a spooky-themed multiplayer game than full-on horror. Still a blast to play though!
