I owe you guys a major apology. For way too long I dismissed Dark Souls without giving it a real chance.
I let the vocal fanbase put me off and convinced myself the game was just overhyped nonsense. Pretty stupid of me to judge a game based on some loud fans instead of actually trying it myself.
Well, I finally gave it a shot and I’m about 8 hours deep now. Just finished ringing the first bell at the Undead Parish and holy crap was I wrong. Sure the game has some rough edges and doesn’t hold your hand at all, but damn it’s incredible.
The exploration feels amazing. I haven’t been this excited to poke around every corner in a game for years. The world design is absolutely brilliant and the atmosphere is perfect. That moment standing in the sun with Solaire after beating the Taurus Demon was pure magic.
I’m completely hooked now. Going in totally blind with zero guides and somehow managed to avoid spoilers all these years.
Also can invaders please chill for like 5 minutes after I kindle a bonfire lmao
Same here - the fanbase totally put me off at first. But that Undead Parish area? It just clicks for so many people. The game makes you feel genuinely accomplished once things start making sense.
Nice! Dark Souls has that effect on people. The world-building is incredible and you really get rewarded for exploring every corner. Environmental storytelling is where this game truly shines. Once you start connecting all the pieces, you’ll be completely hooked!
Totally get that. The hardcore fans can make it seem unapproachable. I was also hesitant for a long time, but once you get past that initial struggle, it opens up in such a thrilling way. The way the world is crafted and connections between areas reveal themselves is mind-blowing. You’re in for a wild ride discovering those shortcuts and secrets!
