I recently came across a movie that reminded me quite a bit of Squid Game due to its intense dystopian vibe. The film tackles themes surrounding society and human nature when individuals are pushed to extreme limits. Much like Squid Game, the characters are confronted with tough moral dilemmas, and the narrative illustrates how desperate circumstances can transform people. I’m curious if anyone else has seen films with similar themes. How do you feel about the way these narratives explore survival and competition? I find it intriguing how various creators approach alike dystopian concepts yet deliver unique experiences. I’d love to hear your insights on films that reflect these dark social commentary themes.
Definitely check out Battle Royale if you haven’t. It’s a brutal look at survival and shows what people will do when pushed to their limits.
Platform is another great one that really gets under your skin with the class struggle stuff. The whole concept of people literally stacked on top of each other with food trickling down is just brutal. Really makes you think about how society works.
Also worth checking out The Circle if you want something a bit different but still dystopian. It’s more about tech surveillance but has that same feeling of being trapped in a system you can’t escape.
The Maze Runner series has some solid dystopian vibes too. Kids trapped in experiments they don’t understand with everything rigged against them.
