Game Studio Acquired Fan-Created Virtual Reality Modification for Human Fall Flat

I came across some exciting information about Human Fall Flat and wanted to discuss it here. It seems the developers were so impressed with a fan-made VR mod that they decided to officially buy it from the creator.

This makes me reflect on how great it is when gaming companies acknowledge and support skilled modders in their community. Rather than ignoring fan projects, they have embraced this VR modification into their official framework.

Has anyone here experienced the VR version? I’m really interested to know how the physics-driven gameplay works in virtual reality. The original game was quite engaging with its unique character controls, so I believe it must be even more entertaining and challenging in VR.

What are your thoughts on this strategy? Should more game developers think about officially integrating impressive fan mods instead of just allowing them to exist?

The wobbly controls were hilarious on a regular screen, so they must be absolutely chaotic when you’re flailing around in VR. Love that they actually bought the mod instead of slapping the creator with a cease and desist. More studios need to do this - these modders are basically doing free R&D work.

VR physics games are wild. Must be trippy trying to grab stuff when your character moves like jelly.

Haven’t tried the VR version yet, but those wobbly physics would be absolutely hilarious in VR. Smart move by the devs - why reinvent the wheel when you can just buy something that already works?
