I just received an official email from Epic Games regarding the removal of Dark and Darker from their store. They stopped sales back in March due to a legal matter involving Nexon and IRONMACE in Korea. Now, they are informing us that from November 1, 2025, the game will be removed from our libraries and will no longer function on the Epic Games Store.
Additionally, they stated that players can no longer buy in-game items or premium upgrades. Those who purchased the premium upgrade will receive automatic refunds, but unfortunately, there will be no refunds for any in-game currency bought. Refunds will be processed back to your original payment method, and if that’s not feasible, the amount will be credited to your Epic account balance.
Has anyone else received this email? It’s really disappointing to see them take away games we already own instead of just halting new sales.
This whole situation is a perfect example of why game preservation is so important. Once that legal mess gets sorted out, if it ever does, all those hours people put into the game are just gone. Makes you wonder how many other games could disappear overnight because of corporate disputes we don’t even know about yet.
This is exactly why I still prefer physical copies when possible. Digital ownership is such a mess when legal issues get involved. I remember when this whole Nexon vs IRONMACE drama started and figured something like this might happen eventually. Really sucks that Epic is pulling it from libraries instead of just stopping sales though.
I totally get that. It’s frustrating when you just want to play a game and all this legal stuff messes it up for everyone. Switching to Steam makes sense, especially with how things are going.
