Did anyone else die at that infamous platforming section when starting their Soulsborne journey?

I’m curious about other players’ experiences with challenging jumps in these games.

I just started playing Dark Souls 2 and there’s this really tricky jump early in the game that killed me multiple times. It got me thinking about how many other people probably had the same experience. The jump feels almost impossible to make at first and I kept falling to my death over and over again.

I’m wondering if this was a common first death experience for other players when they began their adventure in the Souls series. Did you guys also struggle with platforming sections like this one? It seems like such a simple obstacle but it really caught me off guard compared to the combat challenges I was expecting.

That jump in Things Betwixt? Yeah, I totally remember that! I must have fallen like a dozen times trying to make it. It’s wild how the game throws curveballs at you right from the start, especially when you’re still getting a feel for everything. Just goes to show that Souls games don’t mess around with challenges, even the platforming ones can catch you off guard.

For sure, it’s like the game just waits to catch you off guard with that stuff.

Those early platforming deaths hit different because you’re not even expecting them. I remember being so focused on learning combat timing and then boom, killed by a simple gap.

Gravity is the real final boss in that game

Dark Souls 2 definitely has some wonky jump physics that take getting used to. I think I died more to random pits and gaps in that game than any other FromSoft title. The whole series loves throwing environmental hazards at you when you least expect it, but DS2 takes it to another level with how floaty the movement feels.

Platforming in DS2 can be a real pain. I definitely ended up dying more from falling than from bosses in my first run. The jump mechanics really throw you off compared to other games.

Oh man, DS2 has some brutal platforming moments. I actually quit playing for like a week after dying to that jump so many times. Coming from other action games where jumping feels more responsive, it’s such a weird adjustment. The worst part is you’re not even fighting anything, just getting murdered by gravity.
