I just found something interesting while playing. When you beat normal bosses in Nightreign, you get the usual Great Enemy Felled message like in regular Elden Ring. But I noticed that Dark Souls bosses have their own special defeat text instead. The Centipede Demon shows Victory Achieved when you kill it, and beating the Nameless King gives you Heir of Fire Destroyed. I think the other Dark Souls bosses probably have their own unique messages too. This is a really nice touch that I missed at first because I got used to seeing the same yellow text appear every time. It would have been even better if they used the original Dark Souls font for these messages. Maybe they could have added the classic death sound from those games as well.
Oh wow, completely missed that while playing. Makes sense they’d give the Dark Souls bosses something special since they’re guest appearances from other games.
They definitely could have added those sounds. It would have made the defeats feel more nostalgic.
Good eye! Most players probably blast through the victory screen without noticing. Those custom messages really make boss fights feel way more memorable than regular battles.
Totally agree! Those unique messages definitely bring more weight to the Dark Souls bosses. It really feels like they’re honoring the legacy of those games, giving fans a little extra thrill. It’s the small things that make a huge difference in how we experience the game.
Now I’m curious about the defeat messages for the other Dark Souls bosses. ‘Heir of Fire Destroyed’ is such a memorable line for the Nameless King. They really could’ve nailed the nostalgia by bringing back the original fonts and sound effects too.
Wonder if they’ll add more crossover bosses with their own messages in future updates
That’s such a cool detail! Love when developers add stuff like this instead of just copy-pasting everything. Shows they actually thought about how these worlds connect. Those unique defeat messages are perfect for separating the Dark Souls bosses from regular Nightreign content. Really adds to the experience.
