Custom 3D Printed Action Figure Collection

I’ve been getting into 3D printing lately and decided to create some custom action figures based on characters I really like. The quality turned out pretty amazing and they have great detail for home printing. I made one that perfectly fits on my desk shelf right beside my computer speakers. The whole process was really fun and now I’m thinking about printing more characters. Has anyone else here tried making their own action figures with a 3D printer? I’m curious about what materials work best and if there are any tips for getting smoother finishes on the final prints. Also wondering if other people display their custom figures around their workspace or if you keep them somewhere special.

That’s awesome! I’ve been wanting to try 3D printing for gaming stuff but haven’t done it yet. What characters did you make? Custom figures from games that never got official merch would be so cool. Do you design them yourself or find files online? Love the idea of having them on your desk next to the speakers.

Love this idea but still haven’t bought a printer. I’ve been looking at them for months, thinking about all those game characters that never got figures or cost way too much. There’s something awesome about having your favorite characters sitting right there while you game instead of just wall posters.

PETG’s another solid option if you need something tougher than PLA.

Nice work! I printed some gaming characters last year and they came out pretty good. PLA+ is great for figures, sands way easier than regular PLA if you want them smooth. Got mine scattered around my gaming setup too.

My gaming room’s packed with figures now. Started with just one, but I’ve got around twenty spread across my monitors and shelves. I can’t stop buying more!

If you’re okay with the cleanup, resin printing is way better for detail than filament.

Sounds like a cool project! I’ve printed gaming miniatures but never full action figures. The cleanup always kills me though - supports and sanding take forever. I spend way more time post-processing than printing. Worth it when they look good but damn it’s tedious. Do you get obsessed perfecting each one or just call it good enough?
