Considering quitting survivor role due to new idle detection mechanics

I usually split my time between both roles but haven’t been playing much lately. The updated idle detection system feels way too harsh and killer wait times are extremely long now.

In our region we prefer more cautious tactical gameplay while still focusing on objectives. Dodging chases helps waste the killer’s time and preserves resources for the team.

As killer I rarely encountered players who hid excessively, and the 10 minute match abandonment feature already handles situations where no generators get finished.

The current system forces survivors into only one playstyle - rushing generators and taking chases. All other tactical approaches get punished. You can’t go for flashlight rescues, sabotage plays, stealth builds, or even cleanse totems without triggering the idle crows.

Killers can abuse this with perks like No Way Out, Terminus, Corrupt Intervention, and Grim Embrace. Even Hex Thrill of the Hunt causes crow penalties when they interrupt your cleansing.

There are legitimate reasons to hide temporarily - avoiding Oni’s blood fury, Myers in tier 3, Plague’s vomit, or using game sense to avoid a killer heading to your generator.

Even hiding briefly to time a safe rescue triggers the penalty system.

New players suffer the most since beginners naturally hide from the killer out of fear. Now they can’t even do that basic survival instinct.

The developers should completely remove this system since the 10 minute abandonment option already solved extreme hiding issues. This update removes tactical depth and makes many survivor perks useless.

That system really does kill build diversity. Can’t even run stealth perks properly anymore without worrying about crows showing up when you’re actually being strategic.

Yeah the timing feels broken when you’re just trying to play smart and wait for the right moment

New players getting punished for being scared is pretty rough design honestly

Totally feel you on that. The crows always seem to come at the worst times. Hiding is part of the game, and now it just feels off. It’s tough to shift playstyles when you get penalized for trying to be strategic.

I’ve been feeling the same way. The idle detection really messes with your strategy. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to set up plays with your team, and then suddenly you’re getting penalized for just waiting. It makes it hard to play tactically without getting slapped with those penalties.

The worst part is how it screws over solo queue players who already have it rough. At least in a coordinated team you can communicate your positioning, but when you’re flying solo and need to read the killer’s movement patterns, those few seconds of hesitation get you marked. Really feels like they’re pushing everyone toward the same boring playstyle.

Sabotage builds got hit hard by this too. Used to love running sabo plays but now you can’t even position properly without getting marked. Really limits what you can do as survivor.
