Can you name any games that surprise players with unexpected horror elements?

I’ve been playing this action-adventure game lately. It’s the third part of a series. The first two were pretty standard stuff, you know, exploring and fighting bad guys. But this one caught me off guard!

Out of nowhere, it throws in these super creepy parts. Dark tombs that give you the chills, and now there are these scary monster things in the jungle. It’s like the game suddenly decided to become a horror movie!

It got me thinking. Are there other games out there that do this? Games that aren’t sold as horror but suddenly make you want to hide behind the couch? I remember one about underwater exploration that scared the pants off me.

What other games have you played that pulled a sneaky horror twist on you? I’m really curious to hear about more examples!

Dude, I totally get that! Batman: Arkham Asylum pulled a similar trick on me. I’m there thinking I’m just gonna beat up some thugs, then bam! Scarecrow shows up and it turns into this trippy psychological horror thing. Didn’t see that coming at all!

Totally! Outer Wilds starts as a chill space exploration game. Then you stumble into Dark Bramble and suddenly it’s all creepy cosmic horror. Talk about an unexpected scare!

Oof, yeah, those surprise horror bits can really get ya! I remember playing Spec Ops: The Line thinking it was just another shooter. Man, was I wrong. That game messed with my head in ways I didn’t expect. Totally caught me off guard with its dark psychological twists.

Man, Bioshock got me good with that twist. You’re just exploring this cool underwater city, then suddenly you’re dealing with creepy little girls and those terrifying Big Daddies. The atmosphere goes from intriguing to downright unsettling real quick.

Didn’t expect to be jumping at every shadow in a game that looked like a standard FPS at first glance!

Doki Doki Literature Club takes the cake for me.

Starts off as a cute dating sim, then boom!

Horror central. Totally flips the script.
