The dev nailed that authentic retro feel without making it feel like a cheap knockoff. Also, check out The House in the Hollow; it’s still pretty underground but captures that classic survival horror vibe perfectly.
Puppet Combo games are perfect for this - Murder House and Nun Massacre especially.
