Artist suggestions for creating atmospheric horror game music

I’ve been thinking about music for indie horror games lately. There are certain artists who have this really dark, atmospheric sound that would work perfectly for creepy game soundtracks. Some musicians just have that ability to create really unsettling ambient tracks that could make a horror game so much more intense.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed artists who seem like they’d be amazing at making horror game music? Like artists who already make music that gives you chills or has that eerie vibe? It seems like there’s so much untapped potential for musicians to get into game soundtrack work, especially in the horror genre where atmosphere is everything.

Lustmord’s perfect for deep, unsettling drones that sound like they’re crawling out of a nightmare. Also check out Ben Frost; his tracks build intensity like crazy and fit great for psychological horror scenes. Both of these artists really get how silence can hit just as hard as sound.

Forest Drive West creates seriously unsettling ambient music that’s perfect for psychological horror. They blend field recordings with droning sounds to make you feel genuinely uncomfortable.

You should really listen to Suno Deko. Their tracks can create a super creepy atmosphere.

Perturbator’s dark synth stuff would fit perfectly in horror games

Atrium Carceri absolutely nails that abandoned building vibe. Their sound layering makes everything feel haunted.
