Any good solo survival RPGs without forced co-op? Looking for something immersive

Hey guys,

I just finished playing Fountain of Youth and it was awesome! Now I’m itching for more games like that. I’m into survival/RPG stuff where you’re on your own, unlocking new tech and exploring new areas.

The thing is, I’m not a fan of games that push co-op too hard. Like Valheim - it’s cool, but way too big for just one person. And I’m kinda tired of early access games that feel unfinished.

I’ve already played a bunch of the usual suspects:

  • Stranded Deep and similar island survival games
  • The Long Dark (love it, but played it to death)
  • Subnautica and its clones
  • Generation Zero
  • The Forest and Green Hell (not into the whole base-destroying monsters thing)

I’m looking at some newer games like Enshrouded and Icarus, but I’m worried they’ll be too grindy for solo play.

So yeah, any suggestions for a single-player focused survival RPG? Preferably something that’s actually finished and doesn’t have base raiding as a main feature. Thanks!

Project Zomboid is solid. For something newer, check out Grounded. It’s like Honey I Shrunk the Kids meets survival RPG. Finished game, great solo, no forced co-op.

Have you tried Outward? It’s a survival RPG designed for solo play, but it does offer co-op if you ever feel like it. The game world is huge and full of exploration, and it has that classic RPG vibe mixed with modern survival elements. There’s no focus on base raiding so it’s just you handling the wilderness and the challenges that come with it.

Tried Project Zomboid? It’s a bit older but super deep for solo play. Tons of skills to level up and a huge map to explore. No forced co-op and you can tweak settings to make it as chill or hardcore as you want. Might scratch that survival RPG itch.
