Amazing How Voice Acting in Horror Games Changed from Cringy to Top Tier

I’ve been thinking about how voice acting in scary games has totally transformed over the years. Back in the day, horror games were famous for having some really cheesy dialogue delivery that made you laugh instead of being scared. The performances were pretty rough and sometimes made the whole story feel less serious.

But wow, things have really changed now. Modern horror games are delivering some of the most impressive voice work I’ve ever heard in gaming. Take the new Silent Hill 2 for example - James’s voice actor absolutely nailed the emotional pain and confusion the character was going through. You could really feel his mental struggle in every line he delivered. The way his voice matched up with the facial expressions made it feel incredibly real.

I also checked out some footage from the upcoming Resident Evil game and was blown away by how good the main character sounds. At first I thought she might be boring, but the voice performance is so strong that I’m already getting attached to her character.

It’s wild to think that horror games went from having some of the most awkward voice acting to now having some of the best performances in all of gaming. The improvement has been absolutely incredible to witness.
