I just started playing this game and honestly I was not expecting it to get so intense so quickly. At first everything seemed pretty normal and lighthearted, but then the story just completely shifted into some really heavy and dark territory. The tone change was so sudden that it caught me completely off guard.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of dramatic shift in a game before? I’m trying to figure out if this is intentional storytelling or if I missed some early warning signs. The contrast between the beginning and where I am now is just incredible. I’m curious to know what other players thought when they hit this part of the game.
Sounds like you hit one of those gut punch moments that some games are famous for. Which game are you playing? I’m always curious about titles that do the bait and switch thing well since it can either be brilliant or feel cheap depending on how it’s handled.
Doki Doki Literature Club did this to me big time. Went in thinking it was just a cute dating sim and then… yeah. That game messed me up for days.
Usually when games pull this kind of switch it’s totally intentional. Developers love catching players off guard like that. The whiplash you’re feeling is probably exactly what they were going for. Makes the dark stuff hit way harder when you’re not expecting it.
Games that pull this off really stick with you don’t they? I remember playing through something similar and just sitting there afterwards trying to process what happened. The developers definitely know what they’re doing when they set you up like that.
Once you finish it you’ll probably want to go back and replay the early parts to see all the subtle hints you missed the first time through. There’s usually breadcrumbs scattered around that make way more sense in hindsight.
