Why young LGBTQ+ people shouldn't trust conservative politicians (follow-up post)

Content warning: mentions of self-harm

I keep seeing young queer folks defending conservative politicians online and I think they need a reality check. These politicians don’t have your back and are actively working to remove your protections and limit your freedoms.

Some people called my previous post fear tactics, but the statistics don’t lie. The data shows a concerning rise in tragic outcomes among transgender youth, especially in areas with restrictive policies. When politicians push anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, it has real consequences on mental health and wellbeing.

I’m not trying to scare anyone, but we need to face facts. Supporting politicians who vote against equality measures means supporting people who see you as less deserving of rights and dignity. Your vote matters, so please research where candidates actually stand on issues that affect your community.

Politics aside, games are way more inclusive now and it’s cool seeing better representation across genres.

The contrast is wild. While politicians are stuck debating basic rights, game developers are busy creating awesome characters and telling great stories. Gaming is really progressing, which makes you realize how far behind politics can be.

RPG character creation has improved dramatically. The variety we have now is way better than before.

Love seeing so many indie devs making games with queer themes and characters. It’s amazing to finally see yourself represented in the stories.

Gaming communities have come a long way with this stuff. Still not perfect, but way better than the toxic mess of the early 2000s. Love seeing more diverse characters in games instead of the same generic white guy over and over.
