Why third person games feel more immersive to me than first person ones

I know this sounds weird, but I think third person view actually makes me feel more connected to games than first person does. When I play FPS games, I can’t really tell what my character is doing. Like, am I ducked down behind cover or am I standing up where enemies can see me? The way you move around feels too floaty and weird compared to real life.

It’s like I’m just controlling a floating camera instead of truly being a person in the game world. However, when I can see my character from behind in third person games, I can actually watch what they’re doing. I can see them roll behind a wall, crouch down, or climb something. It makes me feel way more like I’m actually controlling a real person instead of just a viewpoint. Does anyone else feel this way or am I crazy?

Not crazy at all. First person feels disconnected - you miss all the body language and movement that makes your character feel human. With third person, I can see how my character reacts to everything around them. Plus the spatial awareness is way better. I always know exactly where I am and what’s happening instead of guessing whether I’m actually behind cover.

Totally get that, seeing your character helps with awareness and makes it feel more real.

Same here, third person feels way more natural. You get to see your character’s animations and how they move through the world instead of just staring at floating hands.
