Why the base character designs in Marvel Rivals are amazing and you don't need paid cosmetics

I want to talk about something that really impressed me about this game. The standard character looks are absolutely incredible and you don’t have to buy anything extra to look good.

In most games like this, the free outfits look pretty basic and boring. Take Fortnite for example - their default characters are just plain and make you want to buy something better right away.

But Marvel Rivals is completely different. Every single base costume looks amazing and feels high quality. The original Iron Man suit is my favorite - watching all those metal parts move and transform makes it feel like real tech. And Wolverine’s design is perfect too, mixing the movie leather jacket style with the classic comic book look.

What really stands out to me is that some of these default looks are actually better than the paid ones. The attention to detail and polish is incredible. Plus they give you free stuff through events and you can earn more just by playing.

I think this is the first game where nobody judges you for using the standard skins. Everything feels equally premium and well made. If you’re planning to play without spending money, you’re going to look just as good as everyone else.

I completely agree, the default designs have a lot of character. Iron Man’s animations are so well done, it really shows how much care went into them.

Yeah the quality difference is night and day compared to other games. Magneto’s cape physics and Storm’s lightning effects look incredible even on the base skin. Makes you wonder why other devs skimp so hard on their defaults.

Honestly refreshing to see a game launch with solid base designs. Most hero shooters make default skins deliberately bland to push store sales. Marvel Rivals nailed the source material so well I actually want to stick with the classic looks. Spider-Man’s suit has perfect web details and the swinging animations look spot on.
