Why don't we have Star Trek games like the old TNG point-and-click adventure anymore?

I’ve been thinking about how modern Star Trek games just don’t capture what made the old ones special. There was this game from the 90s called A Final Unity that actually felt like playing through a real Next Generation episode. It had slow pacing and tons of dialogue, which sounds boring but actually made it feel authentic.

The writer who worked on actual TNG episodes helped create the story, so it really felt like you were part of the crew. You could take your time making decisions and exploring, just like in the show.

Now we mostly get mobile games focused on ship battles or quick missions. Nothing has that same immersive storytelling experience where you really feel like you’re on the Enterprise bridge making important choices. The old game proved that slower, story-heavy games could work really well for Star Trek.

Does anyone else miss this style of Trek gaming? Why do you think developers stopped making games like this?
