Hey everyone! I’m looking for a truly terrifying gaming experience. I’m a teen who’s played a bunch of horror games, but nothing seems to scare me anymore. I’ve tried Silent Hill, Resident Evil series, and The Evil Within, but they didn’t do much for me. Even horror movies don’t get my heart racing.
I prefer indie-style graphics over super realistic ones. And I’m not a fan of games that rely on darkness as the main scare factor. It’s just annoying to stumble around with a flashlight all the time.
I’m wondering if there’s a game out there that might actually give me a good scare. Maybe something I can relate to on a personal level? I enjoyed ‘Bad Parenting’ because it hit close to home emotionally.
What’s the game that’s scared you the most? Any recommendations for a jaded horror fan like me? I’m open to all suggestions!
SOMA’s pretty freaky if you’re into sci-fi horror. It’s not just jump scares, the whole underwater setting and story really get under your skin. Made me think about some deep stuff long after I finished playing.
Layers of Fear nails psychological horror. Messes with your perception and builds dread without relying on darkness. Might give you the scare you’re after.
Try Doki Doki Literature Club. Looks cute at first, but gets seriously messed up. Not your typical horror game, but it’ll mess with your head for sure.
I get where you’re coming from. It’s tough to find games that genuinely scare you after a while. Have you tried Outlast? It’s not super dark, and the camcorder mechanic adds a unique twist. The asylum setting is pretty intense, and the story goes to some messed up places. Might be worth a shot if you haven’t played it yet.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent might be up your alley. It’s got that indie vibe and messes with your head more than relying on darkness. The sanity mechanic really adds to the creep factor. Not super gory, but definitely unsettling.
